For this project, I chose a quote by a designer and created some experimental compositions based on the ideas expressed. I used the quote, "To create, one must first question everything," by Irish architect Eileen Gray. I felt the quote was brimming with possibility-- to me, it felt almost electric.
I started with sketching, imagining anything and everything I could do with this prompt.
Physical ideas, from a lamp to a sticker sheet to a question box were all considered.
Above are some of the experiments that led to my final solutions. I used a variety of physical techniques from collage to physically writing on bananas to make these!
Then, these compositions were applied to a real-world scenario.
I ended up not choosing these posters above, even though I thought they were good posters. Overall I was most interested in the last option, and also found it to work the best with the RIT branding.
